The Financial section of the assets module allows defining key parameters to manage the useful life, book value, and depreciation of an asset over time. This record is especially useful for controlling the total cost of ownership (TCO) and making strategic decisions regarding renewal, maintenance, or disposal of the asset.
Main parameters
Cost center / Budget - Fields that allow associating the asset with a specific cost center and/or assigning a reference budget.
1. Depreciation start date
This corresponds to the moment from which the system will begin calculating the asset's depreciation.
Select the applicable calculation method:
- Straight-line depreciation
- Sum-of-the-years-digits
It is also possible to define the calculation frequency:
- Yearly
- Monthly
2. Depreciation fields
Start date - This corresponds to the point from which the asset's depreciation will begin to be counted.
Estimated useful life - Expressed in years and used as the basis to calculate the depreciation percentage.
Annual depreciation (%) - Automatically calculated based on useful life, or can be entered manually if required.
3. Associated costs
Purchase cost - Initial acquisition value of the asset.
Total replacement value - Estimated cost required to replace the asset, including associated expenses (transport, installation, etc.).
Salvage value - Estimated amount expected to be recovered at the end of the asset's useful life.
4. Calculated information
Current total depreciation to date - Accumulated depreciation amount up to the current date.
Current Book value - Current book value of the asset, considering the applied depreciation.
Expiration date - Estimated date when the asset's useful life will end, based on the start date and defined duration.
Notes:
By registering this information, the system allows visualizing the evolution of the asset's value, facilitating decisions such as early renewal, life cycle extension, or disposal.
This module is not directly linked to automatic accounting processes, but provides key support information for the strategic management of physical assets.
